本周我們學(xué)習(xí)和社交媒體利弊相關(guān)的詞匯
1. mixed blessing
n.禍福兼有的事物;有好處也有壞處的事物
e.g. Social media is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, it keeps people connected; on the other hand, it fuels anxiety through unnecessary comparison.
e.g. Online learning is a mixed blessing. While it enables people to tailor their learning plan to their needs and preferences, it reduces the personal touch.
syn. a double-edge sword; a mixed bag
e.g. The constant access to information is a double-edged sword. While it keeps people informed, they may feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content.
e.g. Living in big cities is a mixed bag. The well-established facilities make your life easier yet can overwhelm them with constant noise and traffic.
2. digital heroin
n. 數(shù)字海洛因;refers to highly addictive digital content—such as video games, short videos, or social media
e.g. Social media is like digital heroin. Its visually appealing, bite-sized content keeps users constantly engaged, to the point where they simply cannot put their phones down.
e.g. For many children, online games have become digital heroin, distracting them from studying and real-life interactions.
3. dopamine /"d??p?mi?n/
n. 多巴胺;a chemical in the brain that plays a key role in reward, motivation, and pleasure.
搭配:trigger/ stimulate dopamine 促進(jìn)多巴胺分泌
a dopamine hit 一次多巴胺刺激
e.g. Social media is like digital opium. It constantly feeds users content that triggers dopamine release in the brain.
e.g. People get a dopamine hit every time they receive likes on social media.
4. traffic /"tr?f?k/
n. (網(wǎng)頁的)訪問量;(系統(tǒng)的)使用人數(shù)
搭配:boost/ attract traffic 獲得流量
e.g. Internet traffic can cause slower response times during peak hours.
e.g. Social media platforms attract massive traffic every day, which makes them ideal for online marketing.
e.g. Some social media influencers use provocative dance videos to increase website or platform traffic.
補充:peak hours 高峰期
provocative adj.挑逗性的
